Northside Psychological Consultancy (NPC) prides itself on being flexible and available to its clients, hence, regular appointments also may be provided on weekends, public holidays and/or in the evenings. Please discuss your needs with the Clinical Director who will attempt to accommodate same ... so, essentially, NPC is a unique 365-day independent practice operating with extended hours capacity!
NPC makes phone contact with all new clients virtually immediately upon receiving the referral. NPC understands that clients' needs are of priority, hence face-to-face initial consultations may generally be offered on a "no wait" basis (i.e. within 24-48 hours) or, alternatively, at a time specifically requested by the client.
NPC advises that face-to-face crisis appointments are able to be provided, however, the provision of same may be impacted by competing clinical priorities. Crisis appointments are not able to be bulk-billed and are offered on a private billing basis only. Crisis referrals or emergency consultations relating to self-harming or suicidal ideation are not within NPC's scope of practice. These requests will be directed to the local public mental health service which is specifically resourced and funded for this purpose.
NPC advises that crisis telephone consultations are unable to be provided. NPC advises that same should be sought from organisations specifically resourced and funded for this purpose e.g. Lifeline, Parentline, Kids Helpline or your local public mental health service.
